Sacred Canyon Access By Adnyamathanha Guided Tours Only

12th June 2020

From April 2020, changes to access regulations for the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park will ensure that access to Sacred Canyon will only be available to visitors on guided tours led by Adnyamathanha people.

This change in management will provide visitors to the site with a much richer experience, with the engravings, the country and Adnyamathanha culture interpreted by the Adnyamathanha people.

A Traditional Use Zone will also be established within the Park to ensure the Adnyamathanha people can hunt and gather in a protected area where the general public will not be permitted.

A walking tour to Sacred Canyon guided by an Adnyamathanha local guide can be booked at the Wilpena Pound Visitor Information Centre.
